Updating Meter Types

Meter types can be updated either in the Usage Metering Viewor by using the API, see API Reference.

To update a meter type:

  1. Click on the Usage metering option in the navigation panel to the left in Usage Engine user interface.

  2. Click on the Edit button in the Action column for the meter type you want to update in the meter type table.

    The Edit meter type dialog is displayed. The following fields can be updated:

    • External Reference

    • Unit

    • Reset Schedule
      If you change Reset Schedule, new meters will use the updated Reset schedule to calculate the Period End while for previously created meters, the new schedule will be applied once the meters are reset after the current Period End has passed.

    • Category
      If you change the Category used in the Meter processor’s guiding rule(s), then you should check if you need to change it the in the Meter processor. If the Category is not configured correctly in the guiding rule, then the input data might not match any meters and consequently be sent to Data Correction. If you change the Category in the Meter processor, the stream with the impacted Meter processor needs to be rescheduled for changes to take impact.

    • Active From

    • Active To

    • Timezone

      If you have updated the Timezone then the Timezone changes applies to Reset Schedule meaning that the new timezone will be considered when calculating the Period End for newly created meters.

  3. Make your changes and click on the Save button.
    You will be prompted to confirm that you want to save the changes.

  4. Click on the Save button.

If the new settings are correctly configured, you will get a message saying that the update was successful.
