9.24.4.3 ECS Restricted Fields Configuration in ECS

The purpose of the restricted fields configuration is to make it possible to mark certain fields as not editable in ECS Inspector, i.e. make them read only. For instance you might want to guard some fields in the UDRs in ECS from being edited to avoid losing traceability.

The configuration is available for all users having access to ECS Inspector in . However only users belonging to the administrator group are allowed to change the configuration, i.e. for all other users the configuration is available in read only mode.

Restrictions can be set on any UDR type, also within sub-UDRs. The restrictions are applied recursively so if you have restrictions on a UDR field of a certain type, all fields below this will be blocked from editing as well.

The restrictions defined in this configuration are valid only in ECS, i.e. the UDRs are still possible to modify outside ECS (unless they have been explicitly defined as read only in UDR definition).

It is possible to import and export the restricted fields configuration if needed. The configuration is located in the configuration tree under System->ECS->Restricted Fields.

Note!

The access rights described above applies also for import and export of configuration. This means that any user can export restricted fields configuration (as long as they have ECS Inspector access) but only members of the administrator group may import the configuration.

If you want to restrict certain fields in certain UDR types from being edited in the ECS Inspector, you can specify those fields in the Restricted Fields dialog.

Note!

Only users belonging to the administrator group are allowed to configure restricted fields. However, all users can view the configured restrictions.
