Getting Started

This section describes the prerequisites and how to navigate your way around Usage Engine.

Prerequisites

  • Google Chrome is the only supported browser. Using other browsers may result in unexpected behavior. 
  • The Usage Engine user interface is best viewed using a screen with a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels.

Login

When you log in to an account for the first time, you will see the following screen: 

  

 Welcome Page

To create a new stream from scratch, click Create Stream. To import an existing stream, click Import Stream.  If you want to learn how to create a stream for your use case there are example streams that you can import directly into your solution. See Example Streams.  

The first solution is created with the default name 'Sample Solution'. You can modify the name if required. 

Navigation

Once you create/import a stream, you are directed to the Solutions overview.

You can navigate within the Solutions overview using the following sections:

Sidebar

You will see the following options in the sidebar:

Description

Solutions

Click to see all solutions created in the current account. For more information, see Solutions.

Notification GroupsNotification Groups are email groups that are used to send alerts/notifications related to the streams in your solutions. For more information, see Notification Groups.
Secrets Wallet

A feature that enables users to store and manage their passwords/credentials and helps avoid re-entering credentials when configuring a function. For more information, see Secrets Wallet.

Admin

Helps manage account users and view their activity log. You will see the following options:

  • Account Overview
  • User Management
  • User Activity

This option is available only if you are an Admin for the account.

You can click on the arrow buttons to expand and/or expand the menu list. 

Banner

At the top of the page, adjacent to the DigitalRoute logo, you will find your current account name on the left and the email address associated with the account on the right.

Banner Options

Description

<Account name>

Displays the name of the selected account. Click on the account name drop-down menu to view all accounts that you have access to. Using this option, you can switch between accounts that you have access to. When you select an account you are taken to that account's Solutions view. 

Account email address

Click or Hover over the account e-mail address to see the following options:

  • View Profile: You can view the profile associated with the current account. For more information, see Profile
  • Log out: Logs you out of the Usage Engine.
