9.8.6 Archive Inspector


Note!

This section is only valid for the Archiving agent.

To locate files in the archive, the Archive Inspector is used. The access group user is permitted to launch and purge these files. Once a file is located, it is treated as a regular UNIX file using regular UNIX commands to view or copy it.

Note!

 It is not encouraged to alter or remove a file from the archive using UNIX commands. If altering is desired, make a copy of the file. If removal is desired, use the Archive Inspector.

To open the Archive Inspector, click the Tools button in the upper left part of the Desktop window, and then select Archive Inspector from the menu.

The Archive Inspector

Initially, the dialog is empty and must be populated with data using the corresponding Search Archive dialog. For further information, see the section below, Searching the Archive. Each row represents information about a data batch (file).

Edit Menu

OptionDescription

Search...

Displays the Search Archive dialog where search criteria may be defined to limit the entries in the list. For further information about setting the filter for this dialog, see the section below, Searching the Archive.

Delete...

If Keep Files is disabled in the Archive profile, all selected files are removed from the archive, including their corresponding references in the database. If Keep Files is enabled, only the references are removed while the files shown in Archive Inspector are still kept on disk.

View Menu

View data...Shows the raw data content for the selected file.
Refresh

Refresh search with previous search parameters.

Accessing the Inspector

Show Archives

If the query resulted in a match larger than the Archive page size, this list toggles between the result sets.

ID

Holds the index of the rows in the archive.

Workflow

Name of the archiving workflow.

Agent

Name of the archiving agent.

Filename

Full pathname to the file as stored on disk.

Timestamp

Time when the entry was inserted in the archive.

MIM Values

When double-clicking a cell in the MIM Values column, a dialog is displayed where values for the adherent MIM resources are displayed. Adherent MIM resources are defined as Logged MIM Data in the Archiving agent configuration dialog. For further information, see the figure below, MIM Resources dialog.

Profile

Name of the profile used to archive the file.

Searching the Archive

The Search Archive dialog allows the user to limit the number of rows displayed in the Archive Inspector. Search conditions may be defined to display either all entries, a specific entry or entries archived between two dates.

The Search Archive dialog is displayed when Search... is selected from the Edit menu.

Profile

Select the profile that corresponds to the data of interest. If no profile is selected archive entries for all profiles will be shown.

Workflow

Option to narrow the search with respect to what workflow that archived the file.

Agent

Option to narrow the search with respect to what agent that archived the file.

Period

Option to search for data archived during a certain period.
