6.1 Getting Started

Follow these steps to get started with the upgrade:

1. Verify that the  is running on version 8.2 or later. You can check the current version by opening the About window in the Desktop, where can see which pico version the Platform is running on. If the system is running on an earlier version, it needs to be upgraded to this version first.
     
2. Verify that the system requirements described in chapter 1. System Requirements are fulfilled. If the operating system, database, or Java needs to be upgraded, this should be done prior to the upgrade. This has to be done for all machines that are hosting the  system.
     
3. Read the upgrade instructions carefully and make sure you understand all the steps.
     
4. Read the Release Notes for each version in order to understand the new features for each release.
