9.30.1 FTAM Nokia Agent Overview

The FTAM/Nokia agent allows files from Nokia DX200 switches to be collected and inserted into a workflow using the FTAM protocol. The agent does not communicate directly with the DX200 switch. Instead it goes via the FTAM Interface service that must be running on a host in the network. The advantage with this implementation is that only one host has to be equipped with FTAM software. For further information about how the FTAM Interface service is maneuvered, seeĀ 9.30.6 FTAM Nokia Interface Service.

The FTAM/Nokia agent collects files stored in a circular buffer in the Virtual Storing Device (VDS) of the DX200 switch. When activated, the agent first reads the transfer control file, TTTCOF, to check the validity of its timestamps. The agent then reads the storage control file, TTSCOF, to check the number of data files that can be collected. Once the files are safely transferred, the agent updates TTTCOF, enabling the VDS to overwrite the collected data.

The FTAM/Nokia agent may not be combined with other collectors in the same workflow.
