Execution Manager(4.3)
With Execution Manager you enable, activate, and monitor multiple workflow groups.
To open the Execution Manager, click the Tools button in the upper left part of the Desktop window, and then select Execution Manager from the menu.
The Execution Manager is made up of the three tabs, Overview, Running Workflows, and View. You open a Detail View tab for every workflow group that you want to monitor.
At the bottom of the Execution Manager, you also have a field you can use for filtering or searching in the tabs.Â
Overview Tab
The Overview tab is comprised of the Status box and the workflow groups table.
Status Box
In the Status box you see a log of events of workflows and of workflow groups, that are also displayed on the System Log tool. See the figure above, The Execution Manager.
You can clean the Status box from messages with a right-click, and then clicking Clear Status Area.
Workflow Groups Table
The workflow groups table provides you with information about all the workflow groups that are configured in the system:
Column | Description |
Name | The workflow group name |
Mode | If the workflow group is enabled it can be activated by its scheduling criteria. If it is disabled, the workflow group can only be started manually. |
State | The workflow group current state |
Runtime Info | Specific information about the workflow group state |
Started By | The workflow or workflow group may have been started by one of the following:

Start Time | The last time an execution was started |
Next Run | The next scheduled execution time. Note!If the workflow is not enabled this space is empty. |
Next Suspend Action | The suspend action is either the scheduled execution suspension of a configuration (workflow or workflow group), or the removal of such a suspension (activation enabling). |
Right-click Menu
Right-clicking a row in the table opens the following menu:
Entry | Description |
Open in Detail View | Opens the selection in a separate tab. |
View Abort Message | Opens an error dialog box that specifies the reason to aborting execution of the particular workflow group or its workflow member. |
Start | Triggers execution of your selection |
Stop | Stops your selections execution |
Enable/Disable | Select to enable/disable the workflow group. |
Open in Editor | Opens a workflow configuration or a workflow group in a new tab in Desktop. |
Running Workflows Tab
This tab displays the workflows that are currently running as well as the ones that are unreachable.
Note!
In this tab you stop a workflow by right-clicking it and then selecting Stop.
In the case you stop workflows that belongs to an EC-deployment, they will restart again by the Kubernetes Operator.
The Running Workflow tab table contains the columns that you find on the Overview tab, as well as the following:
Column | Description |
EC | The IP address or hostname of the computer on which the workflow is running |
Debug | On or Off. See Toggle Debug Mode in Workflow Monitor (4.3). |
Backlog | The number of files that are yet to be processed. The value on Backlog is identical to the Source Files Left MIM value. |
Throughput | This column displays the throughput for the workflow's collecting agent. The value shows either number of UDRs or bytes, depending on what the collecting agent produces, and is updated every five seconds as long as the workflow is being executed. |
Detail View Tab
The Detail View tab displays the workflow group, or groups, that you select from the Overview tab.
Note!
Detail views are saved as part of the user preferences, and therefore enable you to export and import them along with user information.
A Workflow group on a Detail View that is marked with a yellow warning icon, is invalid.
The table on this tab contains the columns that you see on the Running Workflows tab as well as the following:
Column | Description |
Prereq | A comma delimited list of the workflow group Prerequisites settings. See Members Execution Order in Managing a Workflow Group (4.3). |
Next Suspend Action | The suspend action is either the scheduled execution suspension of a configuration (workflow or workflow group), or the removal of such a suspension (activation enabling). |
Right-click Menu
Right-clicking a row in the table opens a menu. See a description of all entries but the following in the section above, Right-Click Menu:
Entry | Description |
Debug On/Off | Turns on/off debug information for the selected workflows. See Toggle Debug Mode in Workflow Monitor (4.3) or Workflow Properties (4.3) for more information. |
Open in Monitor | Applies only to workflows. Opens the selected workflow in the Workflow Monitor. |
To Open a Detail View:
 Right-click the workflow group, or a selection of multiple workflow groups, that you want to see in a Detail View.
 Select Open in Detail View; the Input dialog box appears.
 Enter a unique name for the view and click OK ; a new tab opens and displays the workflow groups and their members in a separate table.
Managing the Detail View
You can choose between hiding and removing the Detail Views Tabs from the View Manager dialog box. Click on the Manage Detail Views button to open the dialog box.
To Manage Detail View Tabs: Â
 From the View menu select Manage Detail Views ; the View Manager dialog box opens. Â
Check to select the tabs that you want on display, and clear the tabs that you want hidden.
To remove a tab:
Use the Remove button for your selected entries
ORselect Close Current View in the View menu
ORright-click the tab that you want to close and select Close
ORclose the tab by clicking the X button
Filter and Search
The field in the bottom of the Execution Manager enables you to search and filter the list of workflows and workflow groups in the different tabs in the Execution Manager.
Using all lower case letters in the search and filter text field will result in case insensitive search and filtering. If upper case letters are used anywhere in the text field the search will be case sensitive.Â
