When your Usage Metering usage metering solution is up and running, the usage for each customer is aggregated in a meter which can be viewed using Inspect view. In this view, you can see all the meters configured for the Meter processor. This view can be used to ensure that usage is being aggregated according to schedule.

To inspect all the meters associated linked to a Meter processor:

Open the Usage Metering usage metering stream. Double-click on the meter processor function and click on the Inspect tab to view a table with all the meters:

At the top of the view, you can see widgets displaying; the number of meter types used by meters for this processor, the categories used by those meter types, and the total number of meters connected to the meter processor function, and in .

In the table below you can see details about each meter with their respective current values.
In the bottom part you can see:Here is an overview table’s items.

  • Period Start - The date time when this the meter has started aggregating for the current period. Shown This is shown in the selected timezone of the meter type.

  • Period end - The date time when this meter will be reset and flush the metered meter record flushed to downstream systems. This is calculated based on the schedule and timezone defined in the meter type for which this meter is being created for. Shown has been created. This is shown in the selected timezone of the meter type.

  • User Id - The unique user identifier for of a customer to which whom the meter belongs to.

  • Meter type - The meter type for which this meter is being created forname of the meter that has been created, such as Summer Ice Creams, or, Sun Chair Rental.

  • Value - The current aggregated value of this meter.

  • Unit - The unit which that the meter is aggregating for. It is defined in the meter type for which the meter is being created for.

  • View - To view the details of the specific meter, click on the view.png View button under Actions to open the View meter dialog.

    Here you can see the record that will be sent to the billing system with the current state and values for the meter in JSON format, see Flushing Metered Records. You can also click on the copy2.png button if you want to reuse this in another context. Close the dialog by clicking on the X top right or the cancel.pngImage Removed Cancel Close button.

Note!

You can also open the Inspect view from the Usage Metering View if you expand a meter type and click on the View button for a stream. The Inspect view for the associated meter processor will then open up and a filter will have been applied for the selected meter type, see the next step for information about filters.

If you have many meters in a long list you can click on the filter2.png Filter button and enter a specific meter type, or a User ID, or a combination of both, that you want the displayed meters to match.

If you do not want to see all the columns or widgets, you can click on the display-options.png Display optionsOptions button and deselect the checkboxes for the columns you do not want to display, and hide. You can also switch off the Overview widgets option.

The default number of rows displayed is 100 rows, if you want to show less, you can click on the show.png Show drop-down list at the bottom right and select to view either 50, 20, or 10 rows.

If you have had the Inspect view has been open for a while, you can click on the Refresh data to update the table.

Close the view by clicking on the X at the top right when you are finished.
