The SCP protocol is intended for use with SSH servers that do not support the SFTP protocol. SCP is applied by issuing remote shell commands over the SSH connection with server systems that understand standard shell commands such as the Unix command syntax.

Prior to configuring an SCP agent, consider the following preparation notes:

  • Server Identification

  • Attributes

  • Authentication

  • Server Keys
