Usage Engine Private Edition 4.3 Released!
We are excited to announce the release and general availability of Usage Engine Private Edition 4.3!
The key focus areas in this release are optimizing productivity and cost efficiency, including new features and enhancements related to usability and scalability. Among the highlights is the introduction of scalable batch workflows, designed to help telco networks efficiently handle growing data demands with improved adaptability and resource management.
Some key features are:
Scalable Batch Workflows
Scalable Batch Workflows builds on our robust approach to batch processing by introducing dynamic scaling capabilities that preserve the same transactional guarantees users rely on - processing data exactly once, maintaining order, and avoiding duplicates or missed records.
Traditionally, batch workflows were limited to single-threaded execution, requiring custom, static solutions for scaling.
This feature eliminates that complexity by enabling dynamic scaling through a partition profile. For example, you can define records to be partitioned by customer ID, ensuring parallel processing of independent data while maintaining sequential processing where needed.
Backed by Kafka for data persistence, scalable Inter Workflow collectors can dynamically distribute, rebalance, and process data, adapting to planned and unplanned processing peaks. By enabling systems to scale up during high-demand periods and scale down during low-demand periods, this feature minimizes overprovisioning, significantly reducing costs associated with maintaining idle resources.
This feature will be initially released to a selected group of customers before being made available for general release. If you have a specific need for this feature, please contact your account representative.
System Statistics for Desktop Online
The System Statistics feature in Desktop Online enhances system monitoring and management by transitioning key functionalities from the Desktop Client. You can intuitively view and analyze system statistics, with capabilities to group and filter data, consolidating relevant historical information for specific Execution Contexts (ECs) and display only currently active picos.
System Statistics automatically updates charts and tables that display critical metrics such as Pico Heap Memory Usage, Pico Process CPU Usage, System Log errors, aborted workflows, unreachable picos, and pico response times. You can refine your analysis by selecting time scales (minute, hour, day), applying formulas (average, maximum, minimum), and by using zooming capabilities on the charts.
Additionally, you can customize chart instances by adding or removing measurement types, tailoring the data view to your needs. Hover over functionality and use direct links to tools like Pico Management and Execution Manager, providing real-time insights, efficient troubleshooting, and comprehensive system statistics.
Web IDE (Beta)
Web IDE provides an enhanced developer experience with an IDE-style interface aimed at simplifying configuration management and improving workflow efficiency. This feature enables you to work in a familiar environment by providing an interface akin to IDE tools you are used to.
With the ability to open multiple configurations in tabs and use a split-screen view for concurrent work on two configurations, you can streamline your processes and enhance productivity.
This feature is part of our commitment to empowering developers with intuitive tools and interfaces, which enable smoother configuration management and optimize the development lifecycle.
This feature is a beta release only. Contact your account manager for details.
