In-app news, MySQL TLS support, and custom S3 endpoints
We have now added three new updates to UsageCloud: an in-app news feature for staying up to date on product news, TLS connectivity support for MySQL in the Database functions, and the ability to connect the Amazon S3 collector and forwarder to S3-compatible storage services hosted outside AWS.
What’s new section in UsageCloud
UsageCloud now has a What’s new section in the banner, where you are informed about product updates, new features, maintenance windows, and other important announcements.
The news is labelled by tags so that you can quickly see what type of update each news covers:
Product update - Product changes and enhancements.
New feature - New feature releases.
Maintenance - Ongoing maintenance or upcoming maintenance windows.
Announcement - General announcements.
Planned change - Upcoming changes that may require users to update their configuration.
Service incident - Major issues that impact all users.
The What’s new panel tracks the news that you have already read. New and unread items appear with a red notification dot on the What’s new icon and on each news. News remains available for up to 90 days from the publication date.
For service incidents and planned changes, a pop‑up appears the first time you log in after the item is published, so you can see critical information as soon as possible. After you close the pop‑up, you can still access the same news from the What’s new icon.
For more information, see In-app news.
MySQL TLS connectivity for Database functions
The Database forwarder and Database Query functions now support TLS connectivity for MySQL. Previously, TLS was already enforced for PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL, and Oracle connections. MySQL connections can now be secured the same way, which reduces the risk of data being transmitted over unencrypted connections.
For more information, see Database and Database query.
Custom S3 endpoint support in Amazon S3 functions
The Amazon S3 collector and Amazon S3 forwarder can now connect to S3-compatible storage services that are hosted outside AWS. If you work with providers that support the S3 API standard, such as Google Cloud Storage or MinIO, you can connect the functions directly to those endpoints.
To use this feature, enable the Enable non‑AWS endpoint option in the function configuration and enter the Target URL of your S3-compatible service. Authenticate by using the Access key and Secret key that your third‑party provider supplies.
For more information, see Amazon S3 forwarder configuration and Amazon S3 collector configuration.
We hope you enjoy these new additions. As always, we appreciate your feedback. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us through our Digitalroute Self-Service portal.
