Quarterly Release Update for Usage Engine Cloud Edition - January 2025

During the last quarter of 2024, we have released four major enhancements:

Index Join support in Zuora Query

The Zuora Query processor now supports Index Join when querying for data from the Zuora platform. This enhances the query performance to optimize data retrieval across multiple tables, significantly reduce execution times and it is designed for scalability. The Zuora Query function now ensures stable and efficient query performance even in large databases, addressing common issues like slow execution and query failures.

SAP SB Query enhancement

The SAP Subscription Billing (SB) Query function has been enhanced to offer greater flexibility, reliability, and efficiency for your subscription billing workflows. Query options have been updated to include all new query parameters introduced in the SAP API, ensuring full compatibility. We have also added a new query option for the GET_usage-records API, making retrieving and analyzing usage data easier.

Additional capabilities

  • Retry on fail - To enhance reliability, you can now set the number of automatic requests to send to SAP Subscription Billing in the event of server errors, ensuring your operations continue smoothly without manual intervention.

  • Action on error - You can also determine pre-defined actions when an error occurs in a stream, enabling immediate resolution or logging for faster troubleshooting.

SOAP Client forwarder enhancement

The SOAP Client forwarder has transitioned from Beta to a fully functional component in the pre-integrated library for Usage Engine Cloud Edition. This enhancement brings a reliable and versatile solution for managing web service interactions directly within your streams.

One of the key enhancements is that you can now select to write the request body in JSON, and the function converts it into XML before sending it to a web service or server.

Additional capabilities

  • Retry on fail - Automatically reattempts sending requests to the web service or server in the event of server errors, reducing manual intervention and improving reliability.

  • Action on error - Initiates pre-defined actions in response to errors detected within the stream, enabling proactive issue management.

  • Response handling - Processes responses from the web service or server after sending requests, routing them to subsequent streams for further actions. This allows for accurate status tracking and smoother integration with downstream processes when needed.

Move to option for collectors

We have begun introducing the addition of the Move to option for collectors in Usage Engine Cloud Edition. This update enhances your ability to manage and process source files effectively, reducing manual steps and streamlining file management. With this enhancement, files can be relocated after a collector function has collected them. By enabling files to be moved to different directories, either to organize collected files for downstream processes or to move them to a specific directory for reprocessing, the Move to option simplifies the process and ensures efficient file handling.

Currently, this feature is available for SFTP and Google Cloud Storage collectors, with plans to expand its availability to other file collectors in the Usage Engine Cloud Edition soon.

We hope you enjoy these new enhancements. As always, we appreciate your feedback. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us through our Self Service Portal.
